French Alps Sports & Active School Trips

Active in the French Alps

This outstanding sports & active programme will offer you the taste of two major alpine water sports environments and much more besides. Sailsports activities take place on the beautiful lake at Embrum while Serre Chevalier is the setting for your white water rafting adventure.

French Alps Sports & Active School Trips

Mountains aren't just for skiing! During the summer months, the freshwater lakes, the melt water rivers and the freedom of the mountain passes make the French Alps a great place to take a group of students with a sense of adventure.

Excursions & Activities

In the summer season the alpine lakes and mountains of France are home to an extensive range of extreme sports and activities. Whether you are trekking through the crisp, cool air of the mountain pathways or white water rafting down the exhilarating rushing rivers - this is the place where students of sports and active studies will really come alive.

Typical Programme

Day 1

Welcome to life in the foothills of the French Alps. Charming Hamlets with cosy pizzerias, friendly cafes and some of the most amazing scenery in Europe will accommodate your school party for the next few days. Once you have arrived at your resort you will have the chance to settle in and enjoy your first meal.

Day 2

In the morning students can experience the pleasures and relaxation of dinghy sailing on a beautiful alpine lake. Sailing builds a sense of responsibility and also challenges students' mental and physical abilities. Our expert sail guides will make sure that this activity can be enjoyed at every level of competence.

In the afternoon it's time to put on your pads and helmet and go Mountain Biking. This is a great chance to breathe in the crisp clean air against the backdrop of the spectacular snow capped mountains. Hard work is rewarded with some breathtaking views as students literally reach new heights of confidence and achievement.

Day 3

In the morning of Day 3 it is time to hit the rapids as you go kayaking in the cool melt waters of the River Dranse. Students will be fully kitted out with buoyancy aids, helmets and the latest in safety equipment with full training provided by our kayaking tour guides. An opportunity to respect the river environment while having fun and getting some exercise.

In the afternoon students can relax and explore the mountain villages and the surrounding area in their own time.

Day 4

You're back on the lake, this time in a catamaran! This is quite different from the sailing dinghies which the students tried on Day 2. A catamaran has two hulls that form a very stable platform making it ideal for learning, also there is more sail power in a catamaran so the craft will go faster. Again, all students will be accompanied by our experts.

In the afternoon Group Leaders looking for an activity with an emphasis on teamwork and co-ordination need look no further than the thrill of white water rafting - students can experience the power of the river, as a team - 'Paddles up!'

Day 5

The last day of activities and so a combination of windsurfing in the morning and a visit to an adventure assault course in the afternoon will make sure everyone gets the most out of their final day.

Windsurfing is great fun and once tried it can be a sport that will stay with students for life. The adventure assault course is hidden amongst the pine trees of the mountain foothills. Students can fly down zip lines, cross rope bridges and swing through the trees under the watchful eye of their instructors and secure in their safety harnesses.

Day 6

Still time for one last dinner at the resort before bidding a fond farewell to your alpine retreat. Students will head out with photographs and memories aplenty and will hopefully have been inspired by their experiences and adventures within this beautiful region.

The above itinerary is just an example and it is completely up to you how long you stay for and what activities and sports you would like your school trip to undertake. The tour cost per child for the itinerary above is: £599.00 however, why don't you choose from any of the activities and sports below and tailor-make a school tour that is right for your individual group.
