The position of Alsace on the Franco-German border means that it is easy to visit two countires in one tour therefore experiencing the history of two cultures. This divide has also provided the region with a chequered past that students can see in evidence when comparing the Maginot line defences with the more peaceful European institutions of beautiful Strasbourg.
