Amsterdam is an ideal place to study a range of citizenship topics, from human rights to sustainability to anti-racism. All of these issues have been important to the Netherlands and they still continue to be so.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 3-4: Study interdependency, the defence of human rights, European integration and globalisation.
  • KS 3-4: Understand the human side of recent historical events and important issues.
  • KS 3-4: Appreciate the necessity for sustainable livelihoods while maintaining a country's identity.

Student Outcomes:

  • Learn about the development of international law and the efforts to enforce human rights.
  • Understand the effects of racism and prejudice.
  • Explore the nature of obligation to others in our own and other societies.
  • Appreciate the scale of global warming and the need to search for sustainability.
