Andalucía was once part of a Muslim kingdom that welcomed a lively and educated Jewish minority. Important lessons can be learned about the practices of many different religions, as well as methods used to ensure religious harmony.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 3-5: See the places of worship of the Catholic religion.
  • KS 3-5: See how the functionality of worshipping can change over time.
  • KS 3-5: Reflect on Spain's history as a home of many faiths and its implications for multiculturalism.

Student Outcomes:

  • Appreciate the history and development of Catholicism in Spain.
  • Understand religious practices that may not be their own.
  • Evaluate the changing role of religion in everyday life and culture.
  • Explore how people have practiced different religions through time and the role of these religions in different cultures.
