Boston is home to many art galleries and museums making it an ideal location for studying techniques and styles within a contemporary American city. Major sites include the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 3-5: Compare and contrast a wide range of art within a number of different settings.
  • KS 3-5: Learn about a modern American city and how art is an important part of every day life.
  • KS 3-5: Inspiration for students' work based upon their own personal experiences.

Student Outcomes:

  • There are some great examples of art to discover within contemporary galleries and museums.
  • An opportunity for students to study and compare modern and traditional pieces of American art.
  • Find out about the inspirations and techniques required to produce modern works. 
  • Students will experience a variety of influences that will help them to develop their own style.
