[Key Stage 5 - A Level]

This is an outstanding adventure and environmental programme. Groups will be able to study rivers, mountains and Himalayan agricultural systems. Groups will have opportunities to learn about Nepalese communities whilst also taking part in a safe and introductory trek in the foothills.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 3-4 Development of tourism in a less economically developed country
  • KS 4-5 The affect of geographical location on international trade and development
  • KS 3-5 Agricultural systems based on hill farming, pastoralism and transhumance farming
  • KS 3-5 Ecosystems, biodiversity and landscape
  • KS 3-5 Conservational case study: Chitwan National Park

Student Outcomes:

  • Explore the Kathmandu Valley over a 4-day-trek and experience the Nepalese rural communities and natural landscapes.
  • Gain an understanding of the floral and faunal biodiversity in Chitwan National Park in the Terai lowlands.
  • Observe and study many different types of endangered species within their natural environments.
  • Develop life skills in team work and leadership whilst trekking.
  • Learn about Hindis and Buddhists and how they share the same place of worship at the Swayambunath Temple in Kathmandu.
