Himalayas and Chitwan : Religious Education

[Key Stage 5 - A Level]

There are many important parts of this school trip that compliment the Religious Education Curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to visit many temples including the Swayambunath where both Buddhism and Hinduism are practised. Nepal is a classic destination to see how different belief systems live side by side.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 5: Create an understanding of religion and how it influences people and communities.
  • KS 5: Comparing various cultures and faiths and appreciating the reasons for differences.
  • KS 5: Developing respect for other religions and traditions.

Student Outcomes:

  • Develop an understanding of different cultures and religions.
  • Learn how Hindis and Buddhists share the same place of worship at the Swayambunath Temple in Kathmandu.
  • Explore the Kathmandu valley through a 4 day trek and experience the Nepalese rural communities and natural landscapes.
  • See endangered species as rhino, tiger, leopard, elephant, buffalo, sloth bear, rhesus monkeys and fresh water crocodiles.
