Miki’s Survival Camp
Undertake a hike in the spectacular setting of the foothills of Mt Kinabalu. On arrival your group will hike through the jungle, accompanied by a local jungle survival guide, enjoying superb views of the surrounding scenery and abundant flora and fauna. Our guide will teach your students how to survive in the jungle as they spend the night at a remote camp.
Mt Kinabalu
An amazing two day trek that includes a night on the mountain. Each day takes between 5 and 8 hours of walking. Students will experience four different climate zones: "Lowland dipterocarp" tropical sea level climate, Lower montane oak-chestnut forest, Upper montane/cloud forest and finally the Subalpine meadow zone where the trees are gnarled and stunted.
At the summit
The following morning it's an early start as you tackle the ascent to the summit. Once at the top you will experience a spectacular sunrise and fantastic views - well worth all the effort. The group will then head back to the mountain rest house for breakfast and then continue the descent at their leisure.
Note: The Mount Kinabalu section of this trip is graded as B/C - Moderate / Strenuous. It may be possible to arrange alternative accommodation on Day 3 (at your own expense), if you do not wish to make the ascent, by speaking to the tour leader at the start of the tour.
Note: The cost of compulsory climbing permits and local trekking insurance is approximately US$25 per person. This amount should be paid locally to your tour leader at the start of the trip.
