The "Hang with an Orangutan" tour is an exceptional adventure and provides a fascinating environmental programme for school tours. Students will learn the art of jungle survival before embarking on the ascent of Mt Kinabalu, South East Asia's highest peak.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 4-5: Develop sporting and physical skills through participation and working as a team.
  • KS 4-5: Enable participation in a range of activities, including climbing Mt Kinabalu and learning jungle survival techniques.
  • KS 4-5: Build confidence and appreciation of the skills needed for personal and team success.

Student Outcomes:

  • Experience a pristine tropical rainforest and spectacular views.
  • Climbing Mt Kinabalu, students will gain team work and leadership skills and challenge themselves physically and mentally.
  • See the orangutans in their natural habitat and assess the impact of development on the natural environment.
  • Learn of jungle survival techniques and the natural resources of the rainforest.
  • Exchange ideas and cultures with local villagers who live on the edge of the rainforest.
