Normandy : Modern Foreign Languages

[Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, Key Stage 5 - A Level]

Using our Château as a base, teachers can take their students' language practice out of the classroom and into the real world. Following the "Young Reporter" course, students can develop their speaking and listening skills and learn about French culture in this beautiful region, which is easy to get to from the UK.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 3-5: Take French language practice beyond the classroom by allowing students to engage in not only structured, prepared encounters but also spontaneous, unscripted meetings with native speakers.
  • KS 3-5: Develop students' confidence and fluency in speaking French by using it in practical situations.
  • KS 3-5: Better understand the culture of the people who speak the language.

Student Outcomes:

  • Develop speaking and listening skills through use with native speakers in real-life situations.
  • Encourage personal growth in students as they learn what they can achieve.
  • Students can compare and contrast their own culture with that of the French.

I felt that this year's trip was one of our best - the coach was excellent and we had no problems. We packed a lot in!
