[Key Stage 4, Key Stage 5 - A Level]

The impact of tourism and rapid economic growth can be studied here as well as the topic of outsourcing of European and American companies. Also, studying the monsoon in determining livelihood patterns can also be an interesting topic and central to many aspects of the geography syllabus.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 4-5: Out of class learning to compliment the geography syllabus. Experiencing first-hand a social-based development project.
  • KS 4-5: Concepts of sustainable development.
  • KS 4-5: Understanding the links between the Jaipur community and the environment.
  • KS 4-5: Interacting with members of the local community, understanding the cultures and the daily challenges that face the Jaipur communities.

Student Outcomes:

  • Contribute to an under privileged community in India by working with a locally run NGO.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of a sustainable development project on the Jaipur community.
  • Gain an appreciation of Buddhism, Hinduism and develop an understanding of a multicultural society.
  • Students will get to see Indian wildlife and, if they're lucky, an Indian tiger.
  • Conceptualise the pressure of population growth on a growing Asian economy.
