Film Locations

National Gallery
Formed in the 18th century and with an extensive collection, this gallery was founded by intellectuals in an attempt to educate the Czech population with patriotic art. This allows students to think critically about how gallery philosophies affect collections.
Museum of Decorative Arts
A wide range of art is exhibited here from: antique fabrics, to mediaeval tapestries, to twentieth century glassworks allowing students the chance to explore the range of creative possibilities across a diverse section of media.

The Defenestration of Prague took place here, an event that sparked the Thirty Years' War, drawing many of the states of Europe into conflict and playing an important role in modern understandings of statehood. School tours can reflect on the roots and possible causes of the conflict.
Terezin
This concentration camp for the Czech Republic's Jews is a chilling reminder of the scale and extent of the Holocaust. It gives a human face to the suffering of the Jews and can provoke discussion on a range of issues around genocide.
Museum of Communism
An insight into everyday life under a Communist regime; as well as explaining and showing footage from dramatic events such as the Prague Spring and the collapse of Communism, students can trace the history of the growth and collapse of Communism and learn how the Cold War was experienced in the Eastern Bloc.
