European unification has many centres, but Strasbourg is one of the most important. The European Parliament and the European Court of Human Rights, combined with its history as a focus for international rivalry, teaches students to understand the processes behind European unification. They can also learn about the dark, recent past of European conflict.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 3-4: Study interdependency and the defence of human rights
  • KS 3-4: Learn about European integration and globalisation.
  • KS 3-4: Understand the human side of recent history.

Student Outcomes:

  • Learn about the development of international law and efforts to enforce human rights.
  • Empathise with the affects of racism and prejudice.
  • Explore the nature of obligation to others in our own and other societies.
  • Appreciate the scale of the threat of global warming and the need to search for sustainability.
