  • Yacht sailing and instruction

    This is the perfect way to introduce your group to yachts and basic sailing techniques. Following the skipper's instruction you'll be taken through routines, responsibilities and other important information that is essential for on-board safety and enjoyment. Trips to the Isle of Wight from Portsmouth Harbour enable your group to really get a taste for life on the ocean whilst testing their physical ability in a relaxed yet professional environment.

  • On shore games and beach bbqs

    The coves and beaches of the Isle of Wight make fantastic settings for your group to enjoy some beach activities. Football, rounders, cricket and volleyball sessions can all be arranged in between sailing trips and beach bbq afternoons can be organised after working up an appetite on the sea and on the shore.

  • Canoeing and Kayaking

    The Island Youth Water Activities Centre is based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight and provides a variety of safe, enjoyable activities and facilities for young people including canoeing and kayaking. This is a great chance to get fit, learn a new skill and find out more about life on the open water. Canoeing sessions can be built around all levels of competence and all equipment is provided including buoyancy aids, spray decks and helmets.

    • HMS Warrior

      As the HMS Warrior is the only surviving vessel from Queen Victoria's Black Battle Fleet she represents a fascinating glimpse into Britain's maritime past. Pupils studying GCSE history will have the perfect chance to find out more about the battles, the lifestyle and the story behind this impressive 'hands on' war ship.

    • HMS Victory

      Audio and lighting presentations give pupils a fabulous account of why the HMS Victory is one of the Royal Navy's most famous war ships. Pupils can walk the deck and examine the cabin that was once home to Britain greatest naval hero, Vice Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson. This is a perfect opportunity for GCSE pupils to discover maritime history within an exciting and educational setting.

    • Royal Navy Museum

      This wonderful hands-on museum was founded in 1911 and as such is one of the UK's leading maritime information centres. Pupils can see, touch, hear and even smell the history of the Royal Navy through a rich collection of artefacts and award-winning permanent exhibitions. From the Battle of Trafalgar to the Falklands conflict pupils of GCSE history will be in their element.

    • Sea Your History Exhibition

      Case studies are an important part of learning more about how people used to live. By studying the living conditions, artefacts and documents of the past, pupils can discover some really interesting stories that will help them to remember times and events on a more personal level. The Sea Your History exhibition focuses on the real life experiences of the Royal Navy during a century of almost continuous conflict and rapid technological and social change.

    • The Mary Rose Museum

      King Henry VIII's favourite war ship sank off Portsmouth in 1545 and has since undergone several raising and restoration projects that have become almost as famous as the ship herself. Today, the Mary Rose is currently withdrawn from public view however, the Mary Rose museum is a must see in its own right. Films, displays and an exceptional collection of historical objects create an ideal excursion for school groups.

    • The Sites of Portsmouth Dockyard

      Landmarks that date back to the 1700's present a fantastic series of sites that can be visited within a visit to Portsmouth. There are also a number of hands-on activities such as 'Action Stations' that bring the modern Royal Navy directly in touch with visitors through an exciting mixture of physical challenges, simulators and technological experiments. Finally, contemporary structures such as the 170 metre tall Spinnaker Tower and the shopping centre Gunwharf Quays will give school groups a varied and comprehensive itinerary for a school trip.

    • Wind, waves and tides

      The nature of the south coast, and in particular the sailing community, means that the weather has far greater significance than for those of us on dry land. Weather stations, tidal patterns and marine ecology all present school groups studying geography with a fascinating insight into how wind, waves and tide affect day to day life on and off shore.

    • Chichester Harbour Education Centre

      Chichester Harbour is the perfect environment to find out more about the geography and ecology of the south coast of England. The education centre has an amazing amount of resources and ideas for school groups and we highly recommend a visit to find out more about coastal erosion, the formation of rivers, the weather and issues relating to human activity including recreation and management of the environment.

    • Guided walks and activities

      We can provide a complete programme of walks, activities and boat trips that will give your geography group a chance to learn more about the shoreline from an educational perspective. Walks will take place over some outstanding areas of natural beauty and will take into account the flora and fauna indigenous to the south coast.

      The Solar Heritage is a catamaran powered by solar energy. We can help to organise trips on board this highly efficient craft that will allow pupils to learn more about sustainable technology as they glide silently through Chichester Harbour.   • Sustainability & Global Awareness
    • The Sustainability Centre

      Tucked away in the Hampshire countryside, within the South Downs National Park, is the Sustainability Centre. This proactive environment intends to educate, enable and inspire people into making sustainable decisions regarding lifestyle and the natural world. Educational courses, overnight stays, a wealth of eco-friendly information and things to do make this the perfect venue for Eco and Primary school groups.  

    • The South Downs National Park

      The South Downs National Park is a huge area of protected countryside that stretches from Winchester in Hampshire to the white chalk cliffs of Beachy Head in East Sussex. Pupils of sustainability will be extremely interested in the conservation efforts to preserve the park's flora and fauna and education packs are available from the Sustainability Centre. This is the prefect environment to learn, relax and have fun whilst learning about the natural world.

    • Chichester Harbour

      The Education Service, based at Dell Quay, helps to inform visitors about the biodiversity of this outstanding area of natural beauty. All sorts of people use Chichester Harbour for a number of different activities including: sailing, fishing, nature conservation and farming. Methods of conservation and some of the challenges facing the harbour are explained through a series of field trips, nature activities and classroom lessons. This is an amazing outdoor learning facility and groups can't help but be inspired by their natural surroundings.

    • The Eden Project

      This amazing centre is dedicated to promoting and displaying plants and sustainability projects from around the world. Three gigantic biomes contain the following natural environments: rainforest, Mediterranean and outdoor garden. There are so many educational case studies and things to do here that students of sustainability will be spoilt for choice. Plenty of information and tips on how to look after the environment as well as interactive and enjoyable activities make this a great place to visit for young botanists and eco-groups.

    • Monkey World in Dorset

      This wonderful primate enclosure assists governments around the world to stop the monkey smuggling industry. The centre itself is home to all kinds of rescued primate including: orangutans, gibbons and woolly monkeys. Sustainability groups can discover the conservation projects in place and also find out more about individual species of ape. Education packs and tours are available upon request.

    • The Living Rainforest

      The Living Rainforest is located near Newbury and has over 700 species of plants and animals kept within tropical glasshouses. These remarkable exhibits enable school groups to examine the flora and fauna of a typical rainforest up close including: butterflies, monkeys, dwarf crocodiles and birds of paradise. Sustainability groups will also be interested in the human impact exploration space.
