Tourism in Thailand is a major contributor to the country's economy. There are many opportunities to study the impacts of tourism on the economy, community and the environment. Students can also study agricultural systems during the home stay programme and gain an excellent knowledge of rice and small scale livestock production.
Subject Focus:
- KS 5: Focuses on issues of sustainability through topics such as agriculture, tourism and living with the threat of tropical storms.
- KS 5: Learn about sustainable development projects and visit a project site that is funded by a charity.
- KS 5: Learn how communities are affected by the physical geography of the local area.
Student Outcomes:
- Explore the forests and mountains of northern Thailand.
- Study the impacts of tourism on the economy and the community.
- Gain an understanding of rural ways of life and contribute to the Thailand Volunteer Programme.
- Stay with a local family in a Thai village and learn of the agricultural system.
