Thailand tour : Sports & Active

[Key Stage 5 - A Level]

Your group will ride elephants through the Thai jungle and paddle bamboo rafts down a remote river keeping an eye out for elephant, water buffalo and exotic birds. Students will trek up to the small tribal village of Palong where they will spend a night with a local family in a traditional village and learn about the local customs and Thai way of life.

Subject Focus:

  • KS 5: Develop sporting and physical skills through participation in adventurous activities.
  • KS 5: Enable students to test their capabilities through hiking, rafting and elephant riding.
  • KS 5: Build confidence and appreciation of the skills needed for personal and team success.
  • KS 5: Learn about the importance of health and safety in a new environment.

Student Outcomes:

  • Explore the forests of Thailand on elephant and bamboo raft.
  • Challenge and strengthen both physical and mental discipline.
  • Gain an understanding of rural ways of life and contribute to the Thailand Volunteer Programme.
  • Stay with a local family in a Thai village and learn of the agricultural system.
  • Learn about essential jungle health and safety.
