Istanbul is important not only in Islam, where it was the centre of the Caliphate for centuries, but also for Christianity. The city bears the evidence of both faiths, sometimes within the same building. The result is a fascinating city for students to learn about the growth, histories and cultures of both faiths, and the way people of different faiths have lived together.
