Travelbound and Every Child Matters
In 2003, the Government published a Green Paper called Every Child Matters alongside the formal response to the report into the death of Victoria Climbié. After a thorough consultation process, the Children Act 2004 became law. This legislation is the legal underpinning for Every Child Matters, which sets out the Government's approach to the well-being of children and young people from birth to age 19.
Travelbound, as a school trips company, strongly supports the Government's initiative and centre our itineraries to ensure that our children get the support they need to:
- be healthy
- stay safe
- enjoy and achieve
- make a positive contribution
- achieve economic well-being.
The Plan aims to improve educational outcomes for children, improve children's health, reduce offending rates among young people and eradicate child poverty by 2020, thereby contributing to the achievement of the five Every Child Matters outcomes. Travelbound have a responsibility to offer school trips that have an educational worth as well as encouraging children to be active and healthy. We try to get the best price possible for all of our tours and offer a wide range of itineraries so every child can benefit from a school trip whatever their background.
Learning Outside of the Classroom
The Government believes that every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances.
In 2007, the DCSF began the process of bringing together existing safety and quality badges and accreditation procedures to form one easily recognised and understood system for schools and other users, the Quality Badge. The purpose is to have one system that brings the previous badges under one umbrella. The Quality Badge tells the whole story - this venue offers high quality experiences, manages risk effectively and is responsive to the needs of young people.
Travelbound are proud to be an accredited Quality Badge provider. We have shown that we have pledged to engage in an ongoing process to sustain high-quality learning outside the classroom and have demonstrated that we meet the following six quality indicators:
1. We have a process in place to assist users to plan the learning experience effectively;
2. We provide accurate information about our offers;
3. We provide activities, experience or resources which meet learner needs;
4. The provider reviews the experience and acts upon feedback;
5. The provider meets the needs of users;
6. The provider has a safety management processes in place to manage risk effectively.
