Although Carinthia is considered a big tourist destination by the Austrians and Germans (and Slovenes too for good measure), it's relatively undiscovered by British groups. The spectacular lake and mountain scenery (there are over 1,200 lakes in the region!) make it an enjoyable and visually memorable tour, and we can't recommend it enough!
Perform...
- We like the Dom in the town of Gurk, which welcomes a range of repertoire including gospel music!
- Bands are welcome in the town of Annaheim, especially at the purpose-built stage overlooking Ossiacher See.
- For more formal concerts, the Rathaus in St Veit offers good possibilities.
Don't Miss!
- Visit the charming town of Straßburg which includes the Palace of the Prince-Bishops and the Cathedral at Gurk.
- Cable car rides take you to high altitudes to view many of the little villages which make this such a delightful destination.
- If you're on tour over the May bank holiday, be sure to check out the Stadtfest in Friesach, when the locals dress in medieval costume and indulge in a massive street party!
