The Chateau du Molay, Normandy
From October 2010 all trips to the Chateau du Molay in Normandy will be entirely carbon neutral including transport, food mileage and energy use! All funds raised by carbon off-setting will go towards funding a wind farm project in Africa. The chateau has recently received a GOLD AWARD for its efforts to promote and achieve sustainability. This makes us the proud owners of one of the most sustainable hotels in France!
As we own the chateau we're able to offer it as the perfect venue for underpriveleged families who want to take a well earned break in conjunction with the Family Holidays
Association. We're delighted the FHA has chosen the chateau as a holiday destination and we intend to offer a yearly all expenses paid trip to FHA members.
We also try to assist our local community and are really pleased to be able to offer the Chateau du Molay as an educational residential trip to Tideway School from East Sussex. Tideway will be going on a full board school trip to Normandy this October and we are proud to announce that the cost of the tour is on us.

Sustainable Auditing Process
Travelbound use the Travelife Sustainability System to audit our hotel properties. This is fast becoming an industry-standard tool and ensures that our accommodations are functioning as sustainably as possible and that they have clear objectives on how they can improve their performance.

School Travel - Carbon Offsetting
We don't believe carbon off-setting is the only answer to climate change however, we do believe that if our customers are aware of their carbon footprints then they will be more likely to make sustainable decisions. There are also many sustainable projects throughout the world that might not receive funding were it not for carbon off-setting.
We encourage our customers to make their trips by coach or train where they can and not to fly when they are in resort. Sometimes, due to time constraints and wanting to see as much as possible, it's not always possible to use a coach so we run an optional carbon off-set scheme through Carbon Offsets Ltd. This organisation directly supports projects around the world that help off-set carbon emissions. Those projects focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Our off-setting groups support the Basa Magogo project in South Africa which teaches local people a new way of building fires that cuts down coal use by around 140kg per household per year and reduces air pollution.
The Travel Foundation
The Travel Foundation supports a variety of fantastic projects that increase the well-being of local communities and protect the environment of the places we visit.
We are proud to raise money for the Foundation and through them we are also offering a free holiday at the Chateau du Molay for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

School Trip Headquarters - what's happening?
As sustainability is close to our hearts we try to promote a healthy, green lifestyle where we work for example: we only use re-cycled paper for printing and most of us cycle or walk to work!
Our School Tour Service Level Charter
Why is Travelbound such a green and pleasant company to work for?
We've raised thousands of pounds for the RNIB by recycling our stamps and we've helped the Family Holiday Association through sponsoring our staff in the London Marathon. This year, 2 members of the Travelbound team managed to raise over £2000 by completing the 26.2 mile course - well done to them! Some of our team recently joined the fight against prostrate cancer by growing a moustache throughout November. We managed to raise over £700 for the Movember foundation!

Computers to Africa Project
We've sent loads of computers, parts and bits to Africa as part of an on-going re-cycling technology project. Items include monitors, PCs, printers, lap-tops, batteries and toners which can all be re-cycled in order to raise money for local people.
