• Part of this programme places your students in a local village for a night. This experience will allow students to experience how local communities live and what traditions and customs are important to the Thai people.

    Subject Focus:
    • KS 5: Learning about other cultures and lifestyles.
    • KS 5: Enhance experience of working in a team during the trekking phase and gain skills in packing a rucksack, map reading and path finding.
    • KS 5: Working alongside the host community with a charity organisation and engage with members of a local village.

    Student Outcomes:
    • Explore the forests of Thailand on elephant back.
    • Study the impacts of tourism on the economy and the community.
    • Gain an understanding of rural ways of life and contribute to the Thailand Volunteer Programme.
    • Stay with a local family in a Thai village and learn of the agricultural system.
    • Gain essential skills in becoming a responsible global citizen.
     

  • Community Projects Chiang Mai

    Part of the tour stops at the Hosts Phang Nga Bay Fishers' Community project (REST - Responsible Ecological Social Tours Project). Here, your students will visit the local orphanage and use their free time to play with the children. By donating your time to the orphanage you can help them initiate projects and achieve their goals. 

  • Chiang Mai Hill Tribe

    Your group can visit a small tribal village in Chiang Mai and stay there for the night. There will opportunities to experience how local produce is grown and supplied and how the village sustains itself as a traditional village. 

  • Elephant ride

    Students will have the option of riding on the back of an elephant or walking alongside as they journey through the jungle of Northern Thailand.

  • Trek and overnight home stay

    Your group will head out of Chiang Mai and into the hills. After a visit to an elephant training camp students travel by pick-up truck to a small tribal village before continuing on foot through mountainous terrain to Palong village. Students will then spend the night in a traditional village house.  

  • Chiang Mai Orphanage

    This local orphanage offers the chance to get involved in an official responsible travel project. By engaging and playing with the children at the orphanage your students will learn how they can help the lives of others through their positive actions.
