The capital of China is a definite 'must visit' on every group leader's wish list and school trips to this fascinating city will be up there with the best of them. Beijing is dotted with temples, monuments and museums that will all help students put their school work into context as they explore and absorb on tour.

From the Ming and Qing dynasties to the effects of Mao and Communism, students will be able to observe, first-hand, the sites and the artefacts that are associated with these significant eras.

Of course, modern events have also played a huge part in Chinese society and a trip to Tiananmen Square will no doubt resonate with students and group leaders alike.

The Palace Museum, found within the walls of the Forbidden City, presents some exceptional examples of Chinese art, and the National Museum of China holds an incredibly important collection of artefacts dating back to over one million years ago. Mao's mausoleum and the Monument to the People's Heroes are also located nearby and present more than enough significance to fill an entire term's worth of study notes.

Away from central Beijing you'll find one of the highlights of any school trip to China; the incredible snaking structure of the Great Wall. Initially built as a way of uniting lookout towers along China’s Southern borders and used to repel invading Mongol hoards, this incredible feat of human construction is a fascinating way to learn about the might of the Qin Dynasty.

School trips in Beijing are the stuff of legends and if you get the opportunity to visit this fast-paced but none-the-less historic capital city then you'll discover that students will not only learn through experience but they'll also be forever in your gratitude for many years to come.
