    The prospect of visiting a musical cabinet museum may not immediately enthuse all groups however, the variety and novelty of this collection proves pleasantly surprising. 

  • Boat trip on the Rhine

    Boat trips along the Rhine are a great way to see the medieval castles and picturesque villages from a different perspective. Most tours are accompanied with running commentary in English. 

  • Trier

    This was once an important Roman town and the oldest city in Germany; evidence still remains of several structures including the Porta Nigra.
     

  • Koblenz

    Historic city at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle with old town, castle, Ehrenbreitstein fortress, Lohr shopping centre, ancient bridges, the Liebfraukirche and the wine producers' market place.
     

  • Deutsches Eck Monument

    The "German Corner" is an important symbol of German unification and reunification. Students looking to understand these processes can see the importance of them in Germans' self-perceptions.

  • Karl Marx Haus, Trier

    In this town, Karl Marx, one of the most important figures in twentieth-century history was born. By visiting his house and learning about his background, students can understand the context in which he wrote his works, and why they were so important.
     

  • Electoral Palace, Mainz

    The Prince-Elector of Mainz was an important figure in the Holy Roman Empire. Visiting this preserved palace allows students to reflect on the importance of his role in European politics, as well as the influence of events such as the Thirty Years' War. 

  • Burg Eltz Castle

    This castle was the home of the Eltz family, whose long history includes an important role in the Counter-Reformation and the development of Jesuitism in Germany. Students can trace the development of these phenomena at this seemingly fairytale castle.
