Barcelona is popular with language students as both Spanish and the regional language, Catalan, are spoken. Spanish language lessons led by a native speaker are a great way to improve students’ confidence.

Although the regional dialect of Barcelona is actually Catalan, the Spanish language is spoken frequently throughout the city, and there is a distinctly Spanish feel to the place, especially in the areas around Las Ramblas shopping district. If you like, we’ll be happy to arrange daily language lessons for your students with qualified teachers, helping them to brush up on their vocabulary and pronunciation which they can then put to good use during the many fantastic excursions and activities in one of Europe’s most lively cities.

Always a guaranteed winner on a modern languages school trip is a visit to the market, and in Barcelona you’re spoilt for choice. Probably the best though is La Boqueria, a huge and diverse range of stalls occupying a large area just off Las Ramblas. Here your students can practise their Spanish, and also their bargaining skills, with hundreds of traders selling meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, clothing and far more besides. More often than not they’ll come away realising they actually know a lot more Spanish than they thought!

Another good option for Barcelona modern languages trips is to take a guided tour through some of the city’s best tapas restaurants. A quintessential type of Spanish cooking, tapas in Barcelona has a fascinating history and comes in a variety of styles. These are the perfect places to get acquainted with the locals as well as picking up a few tips on how to cook tapas back home.

One of the most popular attractions for school trips to Barcelona is the Port Aventura theme park in Salou, a short coach journey along the coast. There are enough rollercoasters here to satisfy even the most adventurous, and it won’t take long for your students to understand that “Whoooo!” means the same in every language.

The students found the visit to the Camp Nou stadium the most inspirational aspect of this trip. We also enjoyed visiting Port Aventura and Casa Milà.
