The charming Normandy region is one of the most popular destinations for modern foreign language tours to France. Only a short distance from the UK, there is a wealth of cultural visits in the area that will help supplement and develop students’ language skills through interaction with local people.

Travelbound’s own Château du Molay is the perfect base for a school trip to Normandy, within easy reach of most excursions, and having plenty of space for students and staff to unwind and enjoy themselves.

Staff-members speak French at mealtimes, and organise fun team-building activities in the evenings.

Common visits for school tours in Normandy often include the picturesque island of Mont St Michel, one of France’s most visited landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage site; and the Bayeux Tapestry, where an excellent museum gives vivid interpretations of this world-famous historical artefact.

Other great ideas for language excursions include the goats cheese farm, where an interesting explanation of the cheese-making process is followed by a mouth-watering tasting session (especially enjoyable for younger students as they sometimes get to help feed the goats); a family-run organic apple orchard, which manufactures apple juice, cider and calvados, and a factory that has for decades been producing the famous Normandy caramels. Question and answer sessions at all of these visits can be taken in French, and, many of the locally-crafted delicacies are on offer at the region’s daily farmers’ markets, where students will have a lot of fun bargaining with the stall-holders for tasty souvenirs.

Travelbound are pleased to provide tailored language assignments to boost your students’ confidence in vocabulary and pronunciation. Language workbooks that are designed to follow the National Curriculum, and our exclusive Young Reporter package, are great for developing communication skills. The assignments can also be enriched by arranging a personal tutor to give short refresher courses while staying at the Château.

Experience a day of discovery at La Cité de la Mer where your pupils can take on an exciting virtual adventure. See life beneath the waterline of the seas and be led by an audio tour through a host of educational areas, which include a vast collection of multimedia displays and interactive activities.
