• Negotiating the markets and towns of this sun-drenched region is an invaluable opportunity for teachers to take their students' language practice into the real world. Following the "Young Reporter" course, students can develop their speaking and listening skills and learn about French culture

    Subject Focus:

    • KS 3-5: By taking French language practice out of the classroom students can begin to engage in both structured and spontaneous encounters with native speakers.
    • KS 3-5: Develop and strengthen students' ability to converse in French in any number of situations.
    • KS 3-5: Better understand the culture that has created the language used today.

    Student Outcomes:

    • Improve French language techniques through interaction with native speakers.
    • Boost students' confidence as they learn about their individual strengths.
    • Learn about the culture that has created contemporary France.
    • Appreciation of the rolling hillsides and Alpine villages that shape Provence.

  • French Lessons with Native Speakers

In partnership with the Campus Ste Thérèse, a specialised accommodation centre for school groups, students can be taught French by native speakers before having the chance to go onto the streets of Paris to put their lessons into practice.

This course combines language lessons from qualifield language schools in resort with ‘out and about' assignments. All assignments are task based, strengthening lessons learnt from the classroom session and aims to provide a degree of self sufficiency in the language, whether its understanding the money, exploring the market or shopping for food. This course includes morning language lessons, a certificate for each student and worksheets on a CD Rom.

  • Young Reporter/Language Assignments

The concept of this course is to place the student in the role of a reporter and is linked closely to GCSE methodology. ‘Young Reporters' work in small teams to research a theme before they conduct interviews with local people, all material is then reviewed and the best interviews played and discussed back at the hotel. The final report can take a variety of forms reflecting both the aims of the individual teams and their linguistic ability e.g. advanced level students could aim to produce a report in the style of a newspaper or magazine article.
