  • Alhambra, Granada

The Reconquista was an event of profound significance; however, it did not wholly erase the traces of Moorish culture. Students visiting this site can see the continuities, as well as the contrasts, that this Moorish palace represented for medieval and modern Spain. There will also be the chance to understand the impacts of bigotry, as this was the site of the edict of expulsion of Spain's Jews.

  • Fundacion Tres Culturas

In recognition of Spain's role as home to Christians, Jews and Muslims, a lecture from the experts at this organisation can give students an understanding of how a multi-faith community can live in harmony.

  • Mezquita, Cordoba

This small town is home to a remarkable cathedral that was built on the site of what was once the second-largest mosque in the world. A visit here will no doubt raise questions about how the process of conquest enforces religious identity.
