• Barcelona is an incredible city for educational art trips. The city's artistic heritage isn't just found in its many world-class galleries, but out and about on the streets, where students can see the architecture of Gaudí's buildings, parks, and the Sagrada Familia - his last, and some say his most ambitious, work in progress.

  • Pubol Dali’s House

The Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol, open to the public since 1996, allows visitors to discover a medieval building in which Salvador Dalí lent material form to an exuberant creative effort with his mind set on one person, Gala, and on one function, to make a place suitable for his wife's rest and refuge. The passage of time led to this place being turned between 1982 and 1984 into Salvador Dalí's last workshop and the mausoleum for his muse.

  • Casa Mila

A captivating building which was originally built for a married couple by Gaudi. The government objected to some aspects of the project and ordered the demolition of features exceeding the height standard for the city, and refused to approve the installation of a huge sculpture atop the building. All of Gaudi's works will animate students thoughts and excite their understanding of art structures.

  • Museum of Contemporary Art

The Barcelona Contemporary Art Museum was designed by American architect Richard Meier and has a longitudinal floor plan in which a circular piece that serves to articulate exhibition space is vertically inserted, passing through all four floors. Richard Meier's architecture is based on rationalism and is similar to the buildings of Le Corbusier in that straight and curved lines are combined to establish a dialogue between interior space and exterior illumination which filters into the galleries through large skylights. MACBA is dedicated to works from the second half of the 20th century.

  • Bau Design School

BAU School of Design was set up in 1989 by a group of design professionals with a great interest in teaching. From the outset, the school has aimed to help meet the needs of the design sector by creating a higher education centre specialised in training in the field of design.

  • La Pedrera (Casa Mila)

Casa Mila or "La Pedrera" as it is often called is Gaudi's second most popular building in Barcelona. It covers an area of more than 100 square meters and includes two large circular patios, so that almost every part of the house gets its share of sunlight. It is constructed entirely in natural stones, and lacking all the colours and ornamentation design. One of the most interesting places of the whole complex is the rooftop where you find a large ensemble of surrealistic chimneys all looking like sculptures standing there alone or in small groups.

  • Casa Batllo

Casa Batlló, located in the very heart of Passeig de Gràcia, is a statement of delight. It is a universe of symbolism, a dream world, which evokes nature with its organic elements. Apart from its artistic value, the building is functional in a way that is much more typical of the present than of the past. There are even those who see elements in it which are precursors of the vanguard of late 20th century architecture. It stands out because of its organic forms, the innovation of the concepts employed, and the methodology used.

  • Picasso Museum

The Picasso Museum in Barcelona is a key reference for understanding the formative years of Pablo Ruiz Picasso. The genius of the young artist is revealed through the more than 3,800 works that make up the permanent collection. Furthermore, the Museu Picasso, opened in 1963, also reveals his deep relationship with Barcelona: an intimate, solid relationship that was shaped in his adolescence and youth, and continued until his death.

  • Park Güell

This unique and beautiful park was designed by Catalonian architect, Antoni Gaudi. Today the park is open to the public to enjoy the amazing mosaics, structures and museum that are testament to Gaudi's work.

  • Figueres

The birthplace of Salvador Dali is home to some impressive examples of Gothic architecture and the Teatre-Museu which is a museum dedicated to his life and work.

  • Sagrada Familia

Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece is not expected to be completed until 2026, exactly 100 years after his death! This amazing structure is a blend of Gothic, Baroque and modern art.

  • Museum of Catalan Art

Collecting together work from the 11th century to the present day, this museum shows the development of art in a single place throughout a long time span. It also collects works from other areas, allowing students to compare and contrast artistic developments.

  • Salvador Dalí Museum

Drawing in a period when science and psychotherapy were challenging accepted ideas, Salvador Dalí's work is very much of his own time. Putting his work into context across different media, can show how his surreal creations were not bizarre for their own sake, but rather came out of the historical circumstances that he experienced at the time.

  • Fundació Joan Miró

The unique sculptures and paintings of Joan Miró defy easy classification. They provide an example of how innovative design can build on other movements without being bound by conformity, giving students the confidence to develop their own work.

  • Gaudi Experience

Gaudi's work as an architect is evident throughout Barcelona and provides an important part of the unique atmosphere of the city. Students can see how unique aesthetic styles can be built to form an integral part of the city.
