  • Instituto Europeo di Design

    The Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) is a design school that attracts students from over 90 different countries to its one and three year undergraduate, masters courses and advanced training courses. The school is separated into four disciplines: Design, Fashion, Visual Communication and Management. Over 10,000 students attend IED courses every year totalling to over 90,000 students for IED's 40 year history. IED also boasts that 90% of their graduates find work within six months of getting their diplomas.
     

  • Sorolla Museum

    The Sorolla museum is housed in what was Joaquin Sorolla's home and studio, and features numerous paintings by the artist. The museum will provide an insight into Joaquín Sorolla's evolution as a painter. Visitors can see the artist's different stylistic and thematic periods, such as his paintings on social criticism, family portraits, works depicting typical local customs, and self-portraits. The Impressionist landscapes are the key works in the artist's colourist period.

  • San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Art

    Doubling as a museum and gallery, today it houses a fine art collection of paintings from the 15th to 20th century: with works by Giovanni Bellini, Correggio, Rubens, Zurbarán, Murillo, Goya, Juan Gris and Pablo Serrano. The academy is also the headquarters of the Madrid Academy of Art so is a must for students wanting to comprehend the notion of fine art and the history of Spanish art.
     

  • Cerralbo Museum

    Marquis of Cerrablo had toured the whole of Europe and had collected a variety of artefacts that includes coins, medals, books, paintings, sculptures, ceramic ware, glassware, tapestries and armours. You will get an insight into the daily lifestyle of the noblemen of Madrid. The bronze, granite, marble and alabaster statues enhance the beauty of the rooms of the museum and there are plenty of old paintings that depict religious themes.
     

  • National Museum of Decorative Art

    Housed in a 19th century palace overlooking the Parque del Retiro, the museum contains a rich collection mainly consisting of furniture, ceramics, and decorative pieces from Spain dating back to Phoenician times. Students obtain an understanding on how Spanish art has evolved and adjusted over time.

  • Monastery of Descalzas Reales

    The Monastery of Descalzas Reales, translated meaning ‘Monastery of Barefoot Royals', includes a selection of Nun's relics, among them what are believed to be pieces from Christ's cross and the bones of Saint Sebastian. It also includes priceless art masterpieces for example Titian's Caesar's Money, tapestries woven to designs by Rubens and works by Hans de Beken and Brueghel the Elder.
     

  • Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza

    Completing the "Golden Triangle" of art museums in Madrid, this museum focuses on the works the others neglect. From early Italian paintings to contemporary European and American works, students can explore and draw inspiration from these fine examples of art that will aid their studies enormously.

  • Museo del Prado

    This is the largest collection of Spanish art up to the early 19th century. As well as containing works by: Hieronymous Bosch, Rembrandt and Boticelli, among many others, this museum contains exhibits from a range of historical and national perspectives. Students can compare and contrast the styles they see and trace the development of Spanish art through time and across media.

  • Museo de Reina Sofia

    Dedicated to 20th century Spanish art, the biggest draw of the museum is Picasso's Guernica. Displayed with its preparatory sketches and photographs of the artist at work, this exhibit will give students an appreciation of how artists create their work and respond to the world around them. However, Guernica is far from the only great work here, Dalí and Miró, among many others, are also represented, with film, sculpture and photographs detailing the various media available to artists.
