• Recognized as one of the world's most important fashion capitals, Milan was nominated "Fashion Capital of the World" by the Global Language Monitor in 2009. Even the name Milan gives its name to the English word "Milaner" or "Millaner", meaning fine wares such as jewellery, cloth, hats and luxury apparel. Milan has been home to numerous fashion designers, such as Giorgioi Armani, Gianni Versace, Donatella Versace, Mario Prada, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce.

  • Galleria Vittorio Emanuele

Situated inside the Palazzo Spada, the gallery is home to the masterpiece of Trompe-l'oeil, an optical illusion in the arcaded courtyard, in which rows of columns and a rising floor fool the eye to a gallery 37 metres long (it is 8 metres) with a lifesize sculpture in daylight beyond, when in fact the sculpture is 60 cm high.

  • Serravalle Outlet

The largest factory outlet centre in Europe, the Serravalle boasts 180 stores. Surrounded by green hills, the outlet is more than just a shopping district, with boutiques opening onto small paved squares and winding lanes.

  • Palazzo Reale

Also know as The Royal Palace of Milan, it was the seat of the government of the Italian city for many centuries, but today is an important cultural centre, home to many exhibitions.

  • Milan Fashion Week

Students can see what's "in" and what's "out" for the season and experience one of the worlds most prominent fashion weeks.
