• London has gone through recent urban developments such as the Docklands and Canary Wharf and is currently undertaking a re-branding in east London in preparation for the Olympic Games and post regeneration project. Students can learn the ever present urban challenges that face a substantial city such as London.

  • Olympic Sites Tour

A tour of the Olympic sites gives the groups an opportunity to see where the Olympics and Paralympics will be held. The hour long tours offer the chance to see first-hand the work that is progressing on the Olympic Park. You will see all the major venues and learn about the environmental and community programmes running on the sites.

  • Royal Docks

The Docks comprise of three docks in East London and form the largest enclosed docks in the world with a water area of nearly 250 acres and an overall estate of 1,100 acres. Redevelopments include improving transport links, plus, providing residential and commercial buildings.

  • Docklands and Canary Wharf

These areas have recently been redeveloped principally for commercial and residential use. This has created conflict between old and new communities due to older communities adapting a view against redevelopment. Further developments include redevelopment of Blackwall Basin, Wood Wharf and the construction of new skyscraper buildings.

  • Excel Centre

The exhibitions and conference centre is located on a 100 acre site. A development was completed in 2010 to expand the event space by 50% so therefore provides an excellent opportunity for students to expand their knowledge on urban development by taking a guided tour and analysing its extension methods.

  • Stratford

Stratford is one of the major areas identified in the London Plan with its main objectives to improve quality of life, tackle deprivation and discrimination and to provide economic growth without encroaching open spaces. It's also home to the London Olympic Park and is experiencing regeneration and expansion projects to become a more suitable place for tourists.

  • London City Airport

This hour long tour gives the group the chance to see what makes the airport tick as well as the part it plays in the local community. You will get a unique insight into the planned development of the airport and see areas that are normally hidden from the public domain. This is an ideal excursion for those wanting to learn more about business within tourism and travel.
