There’s an array of art museums and galleries to inspire your students, and there’ll be plenty of photo opportunities - a must for an amazing view over Barcelona is a visit to Montjuic hill.

Miró, Picasso, Gaudi and Busquets have all made their mark upon the art and design of Barcelona and university tours will be treated to some fine examples of both ancient and modern pieces which feature prominently throughout the city.

Everywhere you look you'll discover symbolism and creativity within the most curious of places and no sooner are you marvelling at mosaics cast into the path then you'll be craning your neck high to absorb towering Gothic spires that appear to stretch into the clouds.

Las Ramblas is as good a place to start as any and it won't take long for your student tour to realise the relationship that Barcelona holds with every-day working artists.

Collections of a more structured nature come in the guise of galleries, such as: the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, which holds an incredible array of pieces ranging from Romanesque murals and iconography to Modernism which is commonly considered to express the style and identity of both Barcelona and Catalonia as a whole. For further proof of the city's love of Modernism then the work at the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona will no doubt tick all the right boxes.

Away from the organised exhibitions you'll discover a raw and haphazard series of pieces that are dotted around the city and the Parc Güell presents a phenomenal insight into Antoni Gaudi - the man behind many of the city's most prominent landmarks, including his masterpiece, Sagrada Familia.

Of course, the city is well-known for its love of sport and university tours interested in studying modern stadia need look no further than making direct comparisons between the Olympic Stadium and the Nou Camp which both provide practical examples of design in a sporting context.

Barcelona has art and design coursing through every pocket of its existence and no student tour will fail to be excited and inspired by this incredibly creative and vibrant city.
