Bright lights and the Big Apple – what could be a more appropriate destination for performing arts students on tour? This is the city where dreams are made and career aspirations reach their zenith and if you're wishing to inspire the next Julie Taymor or James Naughton, then you've certainly set your sights high.

Just wandering along Broadway can be more than enough for some students however, the chance to work with a genuine star of the stage will no doubt send pulse rates through the roof. Working on the skills and techniques that are required to be a successful theatre performer are all covered within a Broadway educational workshop. By learning new and exciting dance steps your performing arts students will build their confidence until they're finally ready for that big audition with the casting coach. This is an excellent means of introducing students to the theatre and once they've made it on Broadway then they can quite literally make it anywhere.
Once your performing arts students have found their feet it's time to peer inside some of New York's world-famous venues with the likes of the Apollo Theatre, Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera House, all opening their doors for behind the scenes tours. A behind the scenes tour really enables students to get to grips with every aspect of professional performing arts and the chance to watch a show on Broadway provides a whole new angle on what they've encountered before the curtain goes up.
If your performing arts student tour needs to focus more on TV and film then there's a wealth of opportunity in NYC with workshops covering everything from production and directing to acting and script writing. NBC studio tours present an excellent example of the world behind and in front of the camera lens and will no doubt enable students to take a peek at what may turn out to be a future career.
Finally, no university performing arts student tour to New York City is complete without visiting the Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. This is where the stars of tomorrow are training and auditioning today and if you want to give your students a taste of what's required to make it as a performing artist then a guided tour of NYCDA has got success shining all over it.
