Travelbound Photo Competition | The Results
We wanted to you to share your Travelbound trip memories and share you did with tons of entries filtering through to our @Travelbound Instagram account!
Running our BIGGEST photo competition ever, entrants uploaded everything from street life to architecture, sunsets to landscapes, and group shots to outstanding selfies in front of some of the world’s most notable landmarks. There were some genuinely extraordinary entries that impressed our panel of judges. Each picture was valued on its own merits, camera techniques and creativity but with three prizes up for grabs, the panel had the difficult job of picking out their favourites.

“The winning image at first makes you think quite 'what is this?' Then as you study the image you get a real treat of graphical lines and shades of light as you discover how the scene is made up, giving you a great sense of satisfaction now that you can see what is in the image and how well it is constructed. A superb winner.”

“To me this is a HOLIDAY, just soft and relaxing with stillness. Love the light and the mood. It’s a dream I’m always chasing for calm and beauty”.

“This image skilfully captures the magnificence of this recognisable landmark and American cultural icon. The photographer has clearly thought about his subject and reflected the image in an outstanding display of colour contrast. A well-deserved third place, very well done.”

Helen Clifford, General Manager

Travelbound Photo Competition winners are asked to contact Student Tours Manager Helen Clifford by email to claim their prizes.

David Goldman Photography (on judging the competition):
“My logic is simple 1) It is technically a good image  2) Does it make me want to visit that place 3) Is it showing me something that I had not seen before or thought of (technically or creatively).”
Pete Webb Photography:
“I am constantly surprised by the standard of photography these days, the amateur sector is now filled with great photographers.”
“The Travelbound travel photography competition was a great example of how the level of amateur photography is growing exponentially. My shortlisted 100 images were a stunning set of images and getting these down to the shortlist was quite a task. I am very glad to see the final few images that went forward to the final three were of an incredibly high standard and show off the observation needed for great travel photography.”
Helen Clifford, Student Tours General Manager:
"A massive thank you to everyone that entered our fabulous Photo Competition. Overall the standard of entries was exceptionally high and it was so hard to choose only 3 photographers to receive prizes. It was extremely exciting seeing students upload their photos whilst on tour with Travelbound, capturing their enjoyment and surroundings in a single image. I was personally blown away by the levels of creativity and professionalism. I would like to personally thank all of our lectures and teachers for promoting the competition to their students too."
