How booking your school trip to France is made easy with Travelbound
When organising a school trip abroad, there are lots of questions to cover. Teachers have to think about much more than just location – safety, planning, parent communication, budgets and delivering a valuable learning experience for their students. That’s why so many schools choose Travelbound’s Château du Molay. As an exclusive educational centre designed specifically for school groups, the Château makes every stage of the process easier, from the moment you enquire to the moment you return home, giving teachers the confidence and support they need to create unforgettable learning experiences in France.
Planning a school trip can feel like a big responsibility.
From finding the right accommodation to coordinating logistics and reassuring parents, there is plenty for teachers to consider before departure day arrives. That’s where Travelbound’s French Château du Molay comes in. Designed specifically with school groups in mind, our Château offers more than just a place to stay. It provides a supportive, school-focused environment that helps make organising an educational trip to France as straightforward and stress-free as possible from the moment you enquire.

A Château designed specifically for school groups
One of the biggest differences between the Château du Molay and a traditional hotel is that it was created with school groups in mind. Travelbound has owned the Château since 1993 and it remains exclusive to Travelbound groups, providing a safe, private setting designed around educational travel. This means teachers arrive at a venue that understands the needs of schools, from accommodation and dining through to supervision and daily operations.
Experienced on-site team
One of the aspects teachers frequently praise is the support they receive once they reach the Château. The on-site team is there throughout the stay, helping groups settle in, supporting daily activities and ensuring the trip runs smoothly. For teachers, this means there is always someone available to help with questions or unexpected situations, providing reassurance throughout the visit.
Health & safety
Set within 38 acres of private parkland, the Château provides a secure environment where students can enjoy a degree of independence while teachers maintain effective supervision. The enclosed setting, practical layout and dedicated school-group focus help create peace of mind for staff, allowing them to concentrate on supporting students and making the most of the educational experience.

Educational aspects
Located in Normandy, the Château places schools within easy reach of some of France’s most important cultural and historical sites. From Bayeux to the D-Day beaches, students have opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. Combined with activities delivered by the on-site team, the Château becomes more than accommodation. It acts as a base for meaningful curriculum-linked learning beyond the classroom.

We spoke to one of our Château experts, Alice Mullen
What makes organising a trip to the Château easier than staying in a hotel?
“The Château is only for school groups, so you won’t be sharing corridors, dining rooms or pool time with the general public. Everything is built around students. Our activities are designed for school-age groups, and our menus are planned for young people’s tastes and dietary needs. In a hotel, teachers often have to adapt a space that wasn’t made for them.
“At the Château, the setting, the timetable and the team are all set up with school groups in mind, so there’s far less to plan, check and worry about.”
What are the most common concerns teachers have before arriving?
“Allergies and food are usually the first things teachers ask about, and that makes sense. Every member of our staff is allergy trained. Our menus and kitchen procedures follow UK regulations and the principles of Benedict’s Law, so teachers can be confident that dietary needs are handled carefully and consistently. The other common worry is supervision outside activity hours.
“Staff are available 24 hours a day, and our night porter carries out regular checks overnight, so teachers can rest knowing someone is always on hand.”

What support do schools receive from your team before and during their stay?
“Our support starts long before the coach leaves school. The Travelbound team helps with all the pre-trip admin, from building the itinerary to collecting dietary and medical information. The Travelbound App gives teachers easy, live access to trip details at any time. Once groups arrive, the Chateau team takes over. Animateurs lead some activities on site and off site, multiple first aiders are always available, and staff are on hand around the clock.
“Teachers are supported at every stage, not just handed a timetable.”
Can you share a recent example of a school group that benefited from the support provided at the Chateau?
“Groups benefit from the depth of support we have on site. Our animateurs run activities both at the Chateau and on excursions, we have several qualified first aiders on site at all times, and our lifeguards are trained to UK standards through the RLSS. When something unexpected happens, whether it’s a minor injury, a change in the weather or a student who needs extra care.
“There’s always a trained member of the team ready to step in, so the group’s trip carries on smoothly.”
What feedback do teachers most often give you at the end of their trip?
“The comment we hear most is about our staff: how friendly, patient and efficient they are. Teachers often tell us that the team’s warmth made students feel at home straight away. They also say our organisation meant they could spend less time managing logistics and more time enjoying the trip with their students.”
Why the Chateau is so easy
Unlike a hotel that happens to take school groups, the Château du Molay is exclusively for Travelbound schools. It’s designed around the needs of students, teachers and educational groups, creating an environment where school travel is the priority rather than an afterthought.
Supported from enquiry to when they return home: A school trip doesn’t begin when students board the coach. It starts months earlier during planning. Travelbound supports schools through itinerary planning, practical guidance and on-the-ground assistance, helping group leaders feel confident throughout the process.
One thing that comes through repeatedly is that the Chateau team helps things run smoothly once groups arrive. Teachers know there is an experienced on-site team available throughout their stay, allowing them to spend more time supporting students and less time dealing with practical issues.
